Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SafePod Backup ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and billing details you provide when you sign up.
  • Service data: the files and metadata you choose to back up using the service.
  • Usage information: basic logs and diagnostics needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
  • Communications: messages you send to support and our responses.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and support the service.
  • To process payments and manage your account.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to security and abuse issues.
  • To communicate important account, billing, or service notices.

3. How we share information

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate (for example, hosting and payment processing), and only as needed. Amazon Web Services, Inc. (cloud hosting and storage), Stripe, Inc. (payment processing), Postmark / ActiveCampaign LLC (transactional email), and Plausible Insights OÜ (privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics).

4. Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as required to meet our legal obligations. Backup data is retained according to your plan and configuration. Account information is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after cancellation, then deleted (except where longer retention is required by law, e.g. tax records for 10 years). Backup data is retained according to your plan's version-history window (30 days on Starter, 90 days on Business, 365 days on Pro, custom on Custom).

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. See our Security page for details. No service can guarantee perfect security.

6. Instant delivery of access

Because SafePod Backup is a digital service, access is delivered immediately after a successful payment, in the form of account activation and feature access. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that the service is provided instantly upon payment.

7. Your choices and rights

You can access, update, or delete certain account information from your account settings, or by contacting us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority). If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA / CPRA (right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined).

8. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States. When personal data of EEA, UK, or Swiss residents is transferred outside those regions, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, supplemented by additional technical and organisational safeguards (encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and least-privilege administration).

9. Children

SafePod Backup is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email.
